Dylan Avery – USA

First my remark: we are not willing and not able to imagine fellows abel to create such an horror (including the biggest question of all, why the United States would do this to itself). Maybe a bad guy like Osama, but not some compatriots living with us. We do not WANT imagine they could create this horror, just to allow them war-on-terror, with hope for world power .

But who said, facts go always much farer than our imagination?

So let’s look at some questions:

Dylan Avery, together with Korey Rove and Jason Bermas put a puzzle of questions together to a film named Loose Change2. You can download it on 911 blogger.com.

Dylan Avery – USA

FIVE years after September 11, more than one-third of Americans believe the US Government was complicit in the attack on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. This extraordinary reaction to one of the most widely witnessed, reported and investigated incidents of modern times has been fuelled by what adherents like to call the « 9/11 Truth Movement ». (Read all on adelaide now, Sept. 11, 2006).

Loose Change is a documentary written and directed by Dylan Avery and produced by Korey Rowe and Jason Bermas. The film presents an alternative explanation of events during the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attacks. The film attempts to compensate for the perceived inadequacy of government investigations and the 9/11 Commission Report. It alleges that the attacks were not the result of terrorism but a series of cleverly executed events carried out by the US government. It was released through the creators’ company, Louder than Words, and received wide attention after being featured on local FOX affiliate, WICZ-TV (FOX 40), [NY FOX affiliate airs alternative 9/11 theory, « Loose Change »]. Consider Dylan Avery, a young net surfer, who recently reopened the 9/11 dossier. In a way that recalls the conspiracy nerds in ‘The X-Files’, he produced a film that is rattling the US. Alone at home with his laptop he made ‘Loose Change’ for $2,000: a very professional 80-minute documentary, easily accessible on the net. It uses the theory of a US conspiracy to explain the attack on the Pentagon and also, more audaciously, the attack on the World Trade Centre itself. Avery has used video documents, archives, audio extracts and 3D animation to create a fascinating and troubling document that challenges the official version of the attacks. Other documentaries are being produced, less accomplished than Avery’s, although they all challenge the official version. They include ‘Secret Evil of 9/11’, ‘9/11 Eyewitness’, ‘Reopen 9/11’ and ‘The Great Conspiracy’. Their audience is on the net. (Read all on Monde Diplo, Sept. 2006).

The film raises several questions: Why were the trees beside the Pentagon not damaged? What are the mysterious lights inside the Twin Towers if not bombs planted there beforehand? How is it that no plane wreckage was found in Pennsylvania? How is it possible that flight 93’s passengers spoke on their cell phones from such an altitude (according to Paul Greengrass’ film « Flight 93, » most did not speak on their cell phones, but rather on the plane’s own telephones). All these questions would be interesting – if it were not for the answers. The biggest question of all is why the United States would do this to itself. According to the film, or to be more exact, the final five minutes of the film, the towers were bombed due to the massive quantities of gold stashed in the basement, due to the buildings’ insurance and because the United States needed a good reason to declare war against Islam. Edited on basic software, Avery has assembled a film that, while amateurish at times, utilizes a wide array of sources in support of his hypothesis, which ultimately concludes that the U.S. government had not only the means, but also reason, for attacking the American people. This is exemplified by both the expansion of the powers of president since Sept. 11 and his subsequent declaration of war on Iraq. In « Why We Fight, » a film concerned with the mechanics of war, filmmaker Eugene Jarecki interviews a who’s who of American defense and politics and includes personal stories from those directly affected by Sept. 11 and the war in Iraq. Jarecki tries to get at the heart of America’s history of military imposition and occupation. Borrowing heavily from ideas and terminology in Eisenhower’s farewell address speech, it soon becomes obvious that the culprit is the so-called « military-industrial complex. » Jarecki explains the context behind each of the issues and dynamics that drive the military machine. He then expertly relates it to contemporary current events, including Sept. 11 and its crucial role in the invasion of Iraq. (Read all on daily texane online, Sept. 11, 2006).

Since the first edition appeared on the internet in April 2005, it has maintained its position as one of Google Video’s top 100. By placing his film on the internet, Avery (of Oneonta, New York) has reached millions of viewers looking for another side to the story, while spending just $8000 on the first and second editions of the flick itself. The inspiration for Loose Change came from a photograph of a controlled building explosion seen alongside the collapse of the Twin Towers; the similarities were too obvious for Avery to ignore. As he puts it, he « just started asking honest questions » about what really went on. Discussing his concerns with his childhood friend (and later the film’s producer) Korey Rowe, an army specialist who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, just made him more determined to investigate what he saw as the strange cover-ups surrounding the day’s events.
