Divina Frau-Meigs. She is an American Studies- and Media Sociology -teacher at the ParisIII-Sorbonne University.

She studied in Paris, Stanford and at the Communication School of Annenberg (University of Pennsylvania).
She specialises in media and information technologies of Anglo-Saxon countries.
She is also research assistant at the CNRS (Technology Social Uses).
Her other activities include editing.:she is editor in chief of Revue Française d’Etudes Américaines (RFEA) and member of the editing board of MédiaMorphoses (INA-PUF).
She has written many publications about the media:
– Les Ecrans de la Violence, Economica, 1997;
– Jeunes, Médias, Violences, Economica, 2003), technologies and screen subcultures (Médias et Technologie: l’exemple des Etats-Unis, Ellipses, 2001) and the connection between media and technologies (Le crime organisé à la ville et à l’écran, 1929-1951, Armand Colin, 2001;
– Médiamorphoses américaines, Economica, 2001).
She currently works on the subjects of cultural diversity and culturisation through the study of real format programmes (reality shows) from an intercultural perspective (Big Brother).
She is also interested in the research of media regulation and self-regulation.
At present she is director of the Media Research Association (IAMCR) and she has been foreign affairs deputy chair in the councils of the French Information and Communication Studies Society (SFSIC) and in the European Consortium for Communication Research (ECCR). (See on Forum Barcelona 2004).
At the Conference on the World Summit on the information society (Nov. 18, 2005 in Tunis) Divina Frau-Meigs expressed the necessity to set up a real prospective vision in the domain of technologies, communication, based on an opening of mind and criticism, in order to promote creativity and research.
