Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed – England & Bangladesh

Listen to his video: Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed: The_Hidden_Holocaust, our Civilisational Crisis, 1 h 21 min, Nov. 27, 2007.
He says: « It was entirely predictable, in this context, that the [9/11] Commission would fail to pursue a meaningful investigation that might expose the alarming extent to which powerful political, military, and economic interests connected to the government are…  » … listen the rest in the following audio interview with Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed.

As Ahmed demonstrates the attacks can only be fully understood in the ight of extensive co-operation between the Islamist extremists and Western Intelligence in Central Asia. The London bombings, much like the attacks on New York in 2001, were a widely predicted consequence of the West’s global strategy. If we do face a future of terrorism we should at least understand the extent to which our governments have accepted this as the price of business as usual. Looking beyond the platitudes and deceptions of the war on terror, Nafeez asks what exactly we mean by the national interest and whether we are really well served by policies that promote terror abroad and tolerate extremism at home. Armageddon on the Horizon?

… Using official sources, Ahmed investigates US and British claims about Iraq’s WMD programs, and in the process reveals the hidden motives behind the 2003 invasion and the grand strategy of which it is a part. He shows that the true goals of US-British policy in the Middle East are camouflaged by spin, PR declarations, and seemingly noble words. The reality can only be comprehended through knowledge of the history of Western intervention in the region. Ahmed demonstrates that such intervention has been dictated ruthlessly by economic and political interests, with little regard for human rights. He traces events of the past decades, beginning with the West’s support for the highly-repressive Shah of Iran, his subsequent usurpation by the Ayatollah’s Islamist regime, and the West’s resultant backing of Saddam Hussein. The sponsorship of Saddam’s tyranny – a self-serving tactic intended to strategically counterbalance Iran – included the supply of technology to build WMD as well as tacit complicity in their use against Iranians and Kurds … (full text).

We hear a lot about the “new” imperialism these days. Indeed, it’s become somewhat of an intellectual fad. Pundits, political commentators, and even professors have been busy debating the “new” Anglo-American empire. The one that spontaneously burst into existence sometime after 9/11, probably around the time of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Volumes of academic verbiage along with pages of distilled analytical wisdom are poured into efforts to try and understand whether this “new” empire is good or bad for the world. Occasionally, we get a little bit of criticism of the failures of Bush and his neoconservative ideologues. Consistently left out of the debate is, of course, the existence of an overwhelmingly enormous Elephant occupying the Living Room of intellectual freedom. What is this Elephant, and from whence does it come? … // … If we have any semblance of humanity left in us as we stand and stare pathetically, immobile, at the scale of the horror our governments have wrought, then our most urgent task must be to find ways to challenge and oppose this global system, which has expanded not only during the era of traditional modern “colonization” but even moreso in the era of postmodern “globalization”, systematically generating genocidal violence against hundreds of millions of people across the South; and systematically finding ways to legitimize this violence as normal, functional, necessary… for us to live, breathe and prosper.
